Stop motion at its finest

I went to see ParaNorman last Friday (on the day it opened, of course), and it was fantastic. It was well written, well animated and well paced. It brought up the subjects of bullying and mob mentality, and addressed them without hitting you over the head with a sermon.

Norman also solved the main problem of the movie by confronting it rather than putting a Band-Aid on it and kicking it on down the road. But more than that, he confronted it by talking to it rather than using violence. Conflict resolution: what a unique idea. I'll have some more, please.

This is Halloween, Everybody make a scene

Not as excited about Halloween this year. Went to see "Nightmare Before Christmas 3D" this afternoon, but that didn't even help. I have the DVD (and the VHS), so I've seen it a gazillion times before, but I just thought seeing it in the theater would really get me out of this melancholic haze.

Nope.

Memento

Just watched that time-warping movie, "Memento."
Very postmodern. The scenes are all stitched together backwards, and there's lots of writing and polaroids involved.

Just watch it, and you'll understand.
